Alfred Wands
In Estes Park

1904 - 1998

Wands was raised in Cleveland, Ohio.  He studied art at the Cleveland Art Institute, Western      
Reserve, Paris and Munich.  In 1930, Wands moved to Denver.  He was Head of the Art Dept., Colorado Woman's College from 1930-1947.   He painted in Taos N.M., 3 months a year, from 1930-1941, and was Camp Artist at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, 3 months a year, 1942-1955.  Wands opened the Art Studio on High Drive in Estes Park in 1956 and was there in summers for many years.  He spent many winters in Carmel Calif. doing seascapes.  His son Robert Wands runs the Wands Gallery there today.

This beautiful example of his work I believe dates from the mid-forties.  Frame is newer natural pine.  Canvas size is 20x24".
